Does planning outfits for family photos stress you out? So many of my clients ask me “What should I wear?” when they book their family session. This blog post will share 3 helpful family photo outfit ideas so you can head into your next family session with confidence. I’m Danielle! Family Photo Outfit Ideas – Tip # 1 – Choose Neutral Colors
When planning outfits for your family session, be sure to stay away from bright or flashy colors. This includes purple, hot pink, blue, bright orange, etc. Bright colors don’t photograph well and will often clash with the background. Instead, choose neutral colors such as beige, white, tan, shades of brown or dark green. These colors blend well and match natural landscapes such as trees, grass, and sand.
Family Photo Outfit Ideas -Tip # 2 – Don’t All Match
Don’t put all your family members in the same exact color. Instead, you want to pick 2 or 3 matching colors to blend. For example, you can choose a white dress, and then put your husband in tan pants and a white shirt. You can then put another family member in a brown or beige shirt/dress. This will add a dynamic element to your photos and will allow them to be more visually appealing.
Family Photo Outfit Ideas – Tip # 3 – Accessorize
Don’t be afraid to add some accessories to your outfits. These are some great examples for the ladies or the men: cowboy/girl hats, suspender for the little boys, big bows for the little girls, or scarves for the ladies. Accessories can definitely add a fun element to your family session.

Family Photo Outfit Ideas: New Jersey Photographer
Newborns
Newborn sessions are taken in the comfort of your own home. Sessions are scheduled one - three weeks after the baby's birth. Photos include the whole family and are mostly candid. Little props are used.
maternity
Maternity Sessions are taken between 28-34 weeks. Sessions are taken at golden hour (one hour before sunset.) Poses include individual images of the mama to be, and poses with a spouse/partner.
families
Family sessions are taken at golden hour (one hour before sunset). Poses are mostly candid & organic; although some posed images will be sprinkled in.
