Hey mama! Chances are you came to this blog post because you are expecting a baby. You’ve came to the right place! I’m Danielle, I’m a New Jersey maternity photographer. The number one question I get asked all time when it comes to maternity sessions is “What do I wear?” Well, I’ve got an answer for you. This blog post will cover my top 3 maternity dress ideas for your New Jersey maternity session!

Tip # 1 – Choose a Neutral Toned Dress

You always want to go with neutral tones when choosing a maternity dress to wear. As a New Jersey maternity photographer, I shoot in a lot of locations with a lot of green. I also shoot at sunset which gives my photos a more golden, dreamier look. Neutral tones like white, beige, tan, brown look the best with that landscape. Check out some of these dresses on Amazon! Tip # 2 – Choose a dress that is long and flowy.

In my opinion, I feel that long and flowy dresses are the most stunning in maternity photos. Being a New Jersey maternity photographer, I shoot in all kinds of weather. Long, flowy dresses are great during all types of weather…cold, windy, warm, & hot. You can also hold up the dress and let it flow down creating a beautiful shot with the dress in mid air.

Tip # 3 – Choose a dress that is lightweight and comfortable.

When choosing a dress for your maternity photos, be sure to choose a dress that is comfortable and lightweight. I know how uncomfortable we can feel when we are big and pregnant. Trust me, I was pregnant with twins so I know the feeling. Pregnant women also tend to get very hot very easily. And as a New Jersey maternity photographer, I know how hot our summers can get in this state. So choosing a dress that is lightweight can make all the difference in terms of comfort. You don’t want to choose a dress that is heavy or tight fitting. You also want to choose a dress that’s easy to slip on and off. A lot of my mama’s do outfit changes during their maternity session.

My name is Danielle. I started Danielle Stio Photography in 2021. There is something about being an entrepreneur that really motivates me. This is more than a hobby for me. It is a passion and a calling.
I started this business at a very dark time in my life. I was searching for meaning and purpose and I found that through photography. My hope is that I can put a smile on my clients faces not only during their session , but after their session; and especially when their gallery is delivered.
