Hey mama! Chances are you came to this blog post because you are expecting a baby. You’ve came to the right place! I’m Danielle, I’m a New Jersey maternity photographer. The number one question I get asked all time when it comes to maternity sessions is “What do I wear?” Well, I’ve got an answer for you. This blog post will cover my top 3 maternity dress ideas for your New Jersey maternity session!
You always want to go with neutral tones when choosing a maternity dress to wear. As a New Jersey maternity photographer, I shoot in a lot of locations with a lot of green. I also shoot at sunset which gives my photos a more golden, dreamier look. Neutral tones like white, beige, tan, brown look the best with that landscape. Check out some of these dresses on Amazon! In my opinion, I feel that long and flowy dresses are the most stunning in maternity photos. Being a New Jersey maternity photographer, I shoot in all kinds of weather. Long, flowy dresses are great during all types of weather…cold, windy, warm, & hot. You can also hold up the dress and let it flow down creating a beautiful shot with the dress in mid air.
When choosing a dress for your maternity photos, be sure to choose a dress that is comfortable and lightweight. I know how uncomfortable we can feel when we are big and pregnant. Trust me, I was pregnant with twins so I know the feeling. Pregnant women also tend to get very hot very easily. And as a New Jersey maternity photographer, I know how hot our summers can get in this state. So choosing a dress that is lightweight can make all the difference in terms of comfort. You don’t want to choose a dress that is heavy or tight fitting. You also want to choose a dress that’s easy to slip on and off. A lot of my mama’s do outfit changes during their maternity session.
And that’s it! My top 3 tips for finding the perfect dress for you maternity session. So if you are looking for a New Jersey maternity photographer, feel free to see more of my work here. EXPLORE SERVICES
My name is Danielle. I started Danielle Stio Photography in 2021. There is something about being an entrepreneur that really motivates me. This is more than a hobby for me. It is a passion and a calling.
I started this business at a very dark time in my life. I was searching for meaning and purpose and I found that through photography. My hope is that I can put a smile on my clients faces not only during their session , but after their session; and especially when their gallery is delivered.

"Working with her from booking up to when we took our photos was a breeze. She helped me pick out outfits for the family and was so responsive and kind when I was reaching out with questions or needing suggestions. I was so nervous now that our oldest is 17 months and doesn’t know how to sit still but she was so patient with us and completely understood when our toddler kept running away from the camera. Even with all the chaos I felt she was able to calm my anxiety and she got such beautiful photos."

"I found Danielle on a Facebook group over the summer and signed up to be notified for her fall shoots. She was very responsive, easy to work with, and we couldn’t be happier with the final product - we love all the photos. She turned the photos around so quickly too. We’re so happy we chose Danielle to take our family photos this year and will definitely be using her in the future! Thanks again! 😊."

"My husband, 9 month old, and I took family photos for the first with Danielle and I cannot say enough good things about our experience! Before we even took the photos she sent so many helpful documents with outfit suggestions and tips for taking pictures with babies! Then when we arrived she was so sweet and did an incredible job making us feel comfortable in front of the camera! Between directing us on how to pose, to making my daughter smile! She was so patient with us and really made sure that we got every shot we wanted!."
