Hey there mama! Are you on the hunt for some ideas for maternity photos in water? If you are, then you have come to the right place. I’m Danielle! I’m a New Jersey family and maternity photographer. Taking maternity photos near and in the water are one of my favorite kind of photos to capture. In the blog post, I highlight 3 ideas to inspire you for your New Jersey maternity session.
I would definitely recommend taking your maternity photos in shallow water. This is for many reasons. The number one reason is that I will often capture you kneeling in the water. You also want to be comfortable. Obviously, you don’t want to be treading in water that is too deep to kneel comfortable down. I would recommend scheduling your water photos at a bay or lake where the water is calmer. This makes for beautiful and serene photos.
Don’t think that lakes and oceans are the only place to capture stunning maternity water photos. You can absolutely take your photos in a shallow pool. In fact, this can even be better because pools are often heated or warmer than lakes and oceans. This will be way more comfortable for you and you will appear to be so much more relaxed.
Yes! There is nothing more beautiful than a photo shoot at golden hour (a.k.a sunset.) This is particular true at the beach. In New Jersey, we are lucky enough to have some pretty awesome beaches. And a lot of these beaches offer incredible sunsets (especially over the bays and lakes.) So if you are looking for maternity water photos in New Jersey, then look for a beach that has access to a bay side ( Sandy Hook, LBI, The Wildwoods) are all excellent choices.
And that’s it! If you are currently expecting and looking to capture a gorgeous maternity photos by the water, feel free to contact me here. I’d love to connect! EXPLORE SERVICES
My name is Danielle. I started Danielle Stio Photography in 2021. There is something about being an entrepreneur that really motivates me. This is more than a hobby for me. It is a passion and a calling.
I started this business at a very dark time in my life. I was searching for meaning and purpose and I found that through photography. My hope is that I can put a smile on my clients faces not only during their session , but after their session; and especially when their gallery is delivered.

"Working with her from booking up to when we took our photos was a breeze. She helped me pick out outfits for the family and was so responsive and kind when I was reaching out with questions or needing suggestions. I was so nervous now that our oldest is 17 months and doesn’t know how to sit still but she was so patient with us and completely understood when our toddler kept running away from the camera. Even with all the chaos I felt she was able to calm my anxiety and she got such beautiful photos."

"I found Danielle on a Facebook group over the summer and signed up to be notified for her fall shoots. She was very responsive, easy to work with, and we couldn’t be happier with the final product - we love all the photos. She turned the photos around so quickly too. We’re so happy we chose Danielle to take our family photos this year and will definitely be using her in the future! Thanks again! 😊."

"My husband, 9 month old, and I took family photos for the first with Danielle and I cannot say enough good things about our experience! Before we even took the photos she sent so many helpful documents with outfit suggestions and tips for taking pictures with babies! Then when we arrived she was so sweet and did an incredible job making us feel comfortable in front of the camera! Between directing us on how to pose, to making my daughter smile! She was so patient with us and really made sure that we got every shot we wanted!."
