In this blog, I highlight my number one spot for an epic spring maternity session in New Jersey. If you don’t know me already, I’m Danielle! Cross Estate Gardens
Cross Estate Gardens in Bernardsville, New Jersey is my top location for any maternity session regardless of the spring or not. However, the Spring and Summer are the best times because that’s when the flowers are in full bloom. Here’s why Cross Estate Gardens in an epic location for your spring maternity photos.
Beautiful Structures
I love a location that provides more than one choice of scenery. Cross Estate Gardens not only has gardens. It has some incredible structures. Beautiful stone walkways & steps provide a nice contrast against the greenery. There’s also a gorgeous trellis with ivy & vines. And if that’s not enough, there’s a large tower that looks like it belongs in the movie Rapunzel. You definitely have some amazing architecture to enhance the look and feel of your photos.
Beautiful Greenery
Along with the amazing structures, this park has some breath-taking greenery. The flowers and shrubbery spread out along the pathways and look incredible when the sun is shining through. There are so many nooks and crannies within this park that everytime you go; you find something new. It really does feel like you’re in some sort of secret garden.
Tall Grass
Another amazing perk that Cross Estate Gardens offers is tall grass. It’s so hard to find a park in New Jersey that has some tall grass. This location doesn’t disappoint. If you head behind the gardens, there’s a large field with tall grass that looks amazing at sunset. Just be mindful of other photographers in the area. Cross Estate Gardens is a popular location for maternity photos.

Spring Maternity Photos in New Jersey: Try This Epic Location
Newborns
Newborn sessions are taken in the comfort of your own home. Sessions are scheduled one - three weeks after the baby's birth. Photos include the whole family and are mostly candid. Little props are used.
maternity
Maternity Sessions are taken between 28-34 weeks. Sessions are taken at golden hour (one hour before sunset.) Poses include individual images of the mama to be, and poses with a spouse/partner.
families
Family sessions are taken at golden hour (one hour before sunset). Poses are mostly candid & organic; although some posed images will be sprinkled in.
