Fall Picture Idea # 1 – Lay on a Your Bellies

This is a really simple pose to capture & you can get a variety of photos with this one simple pose. First, grab a neutral toned blanket. Have your child or children lay down on their bellies and face the camera. Snap a photo of them looking at the camera with or without their arms around each other, and then have them tickle each other. This will cause genuine smiles that always look great in pictures.

Fall Picture Idea # 2 – Lay on Your Backs

After you take some cute shots of them on their bellies, have the kids turn over to their backs. Take a few shots from right above them. The angle that you get from above is really cool. No need to take their whole bodies, just their heads are fine! Again, use prompts like “look at each other and giggle” or “say something silly like “pretend somebody has a booger in their nose.” These will always produce the best laughs.

Fall Picture Idea # 3 – Apple Orchards

Apple picking is one of my favorite fall activities to do with my kids. Not only are apple farms fun to be at, they make a great landscape for photos. Apple orchards are a great place to get some fun candid photos of your kiddos. Take pictures of them picking the apples or smelling them. I always make sure I grab a shot of them biting into the apple. Zoom in real close to their faces as they bite into it.

Fall Picture Idea # 4 – Ring Around The Rosie

This pose can only be done with more than one child, but you can always jump in too! Just have someone else take the photos. This pose is super easy to get because everyone knows how to do it! Just have the kids hold hands and spin around in a circle. When they all “fall down”, you will get some great smiles!

Fall Picture Idea # 5 – Wooden Fences

Whenever I go location scouting for fall pictures, I always look for areas that have wooden fences. A wooden fence gives photos a rustic feel. It also adds a little contrast to your photos. Have your kid or kiddos lean up against the fence with their arms crossed. Another idea is to have them stand behind the fence and lean over on their elbows.

Fall Picture Idea # 6 – Throw the Leaves

This is perfect for the kids because what child doesn’t like to throw a bunch of leaves in the air. Depending on where you are, you may have to wait until most of the leaves have fallen on the ground. Have the kids gather a bunch of leaves, and then on the count of 3, have the kids throw the leaves up in the air. The genuine reactions will be priceless & you will be sure to capture the kids genuinely having a good time.

Fall Picture Idea # 7 – Hold Hands and Run Forwards

This is a fun one to get & a great way to get the kid’s energy out. Have them stand pretty far back from you. Count to 3, and them hold hands and run towards you. The laughs you get will be priceless.

You can also repeat this pose with them walking towards you!

Fall Picture Idea # 8 – Take One From Behind

This is the exact opposite of the above pose. After they get their energy out running towards you, have them walk back the other way. Be sure to grab a few shots of them from behind. It adds a little bit of a dramatic effect to your photo, especially if you put it in black and white!
